I went and applied at hooters last month and the manager said because they were remodeling the were not hiring right then. He gave me the general managers card and said to call him after the first of the year. Was this just a nice way of brushing me off or do they really want me to call?
It really could be either one. Some managers continue to hire as normal throughout remodeling projects, while others put that on hold. I'd recommend heading back in to the restaurant in question now that the first of the year is over. Bring the manager's card and let him/her know that you had been in previously, as that shows that you are focused and serious about working there.
